About Sataf Nature Reserve

Sataf Nature Reserve

Sataf Nature Reserve is located in the Judaean Mountains, only a short distance from the city of Jerusalem. This picturesque reserve is famous for its historical agricultural terraces and two ancient springs, Ein Sataf and Ein Bikura, which have been carefully restored. Historically, the area was used for traditional terrace farming, with evidence of water channel systems that date back thousands of years. The reserve is also an important ecological site, featuring a rich variety of Mediterranean plant species and providing a habitat for local wildlife. Visitors to Sataf can explore numerous hiking trails that vary from easy walks to more challenging ascents. These trails offer spectacular views of the surrounding valleys and hills. As well as its natural beauty, Sataf is appreciated for its cultural significance, evidenced by archaeological finds including ancient cave dwellings and Byzantine-era agricultural remains.
